The changelog below includes new features and bug fixes for Electrical Bid Manager v26.3. We have rolled in the updates from 26.1 and 26.2 that did not get a wide release.

Added Features

  • eTakeoff plan takeoff integration with EBM.
    • eTakeoff is an alternative to PlanSwift and On-Screen Takeoff (OST). eTakeoff has the best direct integration with EBM compared to PlanSwift and OST. Example: When users make changes to counts and measurements in eTakeoff, EBM has a new "change detection" and Takeoff Entry update engine that simplifies the process of committing changes to EBM's Audit Trail. BZ176737
    • See the Getting Started Help videos
  • Added user-selectable default Phase for items manually specified (aka. Temp Fixture) in the Fixtures Takeoff Module.
    • User can now set a global (for new jobs) default or job-specific Phase for manually entered Fixtures (aka Temp Fixture) BZ169988
  • User can set the Plan Takeoff Unit to several items with the new Batch Edit option.
    • Multi-select items or selecting a Category/Folder allows you to set multiple items to be Linear or Count for use in PlanSwift and eTakeoff. BZ177377
  • Improved Labor Rates handling for database and job restores
    • Customer had an issue where the default labor rate set did not exist on their EBM. We improved how EBM handles this scenario. BZ174941
  • New debug logging for troubleshooting.
    • This is primarily for the Vision Support team to turn on to aid in troubleshooting EBM behaviors we have not seen. The fast we can isolate a new bug or behavior, the faster we can either fix the bug or help the customer make an adjustment to their Windows system or network. BZ177112
  • Improved grid row highlighting and text contrast.
    • When user selects a row or when searching, sometimes the row highlight color and text would be too close and make text hard to read. This was fixed. BZ174487
  • The EBM Installation prevents users from upgrading older versions.
    • Upgrading older software can be problematic and cause corruption for some customers.  We ask that users create a Support Case, and we will help with the upgrade.

Fixed

  • In the Audit Trail, improved edit-to-source for Takeoff that used the Quick Devices module.
    • Some Quick Devices takeoff wouldn't allow proper Edit-to-Source functionality in the Audit Trail. BZ176808
  • Edit to Source function not working on older restored jobs.
    • We have re-enabled Edit to Source on jobs created in version 11.3 and older. BZ175418
  • v25.2 introduced a bug that prevented some item edits from being saved to the master database.
    • Edits now properly save to the master database for use in future jobs. BZ175907
  • The default print orientation for Job Extension was incorrectly set to Landscape.
    • Updated this to default to Portrait. EBM Pro users can print additional columns of data that auto-convert to Landscape for printing to ensure they fit. BZ155964
  • Removed bug in Quote Report window that crashed EBM
    • Adding a quoted item on the Quote management window would sometimes crash EBM. BZ175601
  • Fixed the left-side navigation panel on residential jobs.
    • The left vertical menu for residential jobs had disabled menu items. We fixed the issue, and all menu items are now usable. BZ175661
  • On a Residential-specific job, issue with using the Audit Trail to change the Location value on Takeoff Entries.
    • This was fixed. This affected only jobs designated as Residential. BZ177220
  • The Database item list view stopped highlighting selected items.
    • This affected very few users as we caught it before a wide release. BZ177401
  • Editing a child item of an Assembly in the Audit Trail would not save.
    • We believe this affected very few customers as we caught it quickly. The bug version of EBM was sent to very few users. BZ177444
  • A recently introduced bug prevented the Batch Edit function from working in the Database item list view.
    • The Batch Edit function offers many useful options to update multiple items at once. Check it out! BZ177542
  • Updated SHIFT-click and CTRL-click selection of items in the data item list window.
    • When using the View/Edit Database tool, we improved how users select multiple items for the Batch Edit and Delete functions. BZ177581
  • Improved how Job Extension and Job Totals handle Open Items (no price, no labor)
    • The reports would sometimes fail to save the value entered by the user immediately. When running the reports later, it would again request the Open Items values. Closing the job or EBM would typically fix this. The data is now saved correctly. In addition, we reviewed and updated several aspects of how Open Items are treated when the user Skips inputing values. BZ177301
  • Fixed a crash when launching "Bid Summary Notes" from the Report menu
    • Curious bug, this one. How did it come to be? Annoying how something so simple can simply stop working. We fixed it! BZ177400
  • In the  Job Extension Spreadsheet report view, edits to an item price can be saved back to the master database.
    • Users can save price changes they make to an item to the main estimating database in EBM. This allows these price changes to be used for future jobs. BZ177252
  • The EPIC Issue # in EBM's About window now updates instantly after a pricing update.
    • EBM had to be restarted to update the EPIC Issue # displayed in the About window even though EBM was successfully updated with EPIC. A restart of EBM would update the Issue #. Now, this value updates instantly once an EPIC price update is completed. BZ176402
  • Item Attributes editor user interface issues.
    • A customer reported that editing an attribute would edit the attribute above the one they meant to edit. BZ176410
  • A "Calculated Price" value was appearing on commercial Assemblies edit window.
    • "Calculated Priced" is part of the Residential bidding engine in EBM and should not have appeared on Commercial jobs. BZ176452
